Things I Love

Sneaky Momma

A big thank you to Drahdrah at Drahdrah's Place for the Things I Love post idea! Go and check out her awesome blog. Her blog is awesome! Thanks to Otin for helping me find her!

I love a cup of coffee every now and then. I gave up drinking it everyday a long time ago. I like a cup of Gevalia's Hazelnut regular, not decaf, brewed with a small scoop of coffee per 6 or 8 cups of water so that it looks like strong black tea and it has a good flavor and it's not bitter or too strong.

I love bacon. I could eat it everyday but I only buy it once a week.

I love earning an income and contributing to the family funds.

I love being a woman but sometimes I wish it was easier to be a woman/wife/mother/fixer of all things in the entire universe.

I love books. I found a book called The Golden Hour at the library book sale for 10 cents. It was published in 1925 and I think it's really cool. I might do a post about it.

As for Halloween, this is just an update to let those of you who asked know that #1 Son got called into work and he was unable to wear the Kenny costume, that I worked on for over an hour after he tried it on. I'm saving everything for next year. I almost came close to wearing it myself but I stayed home with the dog again this year. We live up in the trees. We don't have paved streets or sidewalks so we hardly ever get trick-or-treaters. Plus, our property is completely fenced. We have special neighbor friends who spoil our kids but our kids don't trick-or-treat around our neighborhood. It's dangerous since we have wild javelinas, bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, etc. etc. in our neighborhood.

Hubby took the girls trick-or-treating on a popular street downtown. I've been staying home with the dog since our family friend died before Halloween and since we no longer go to a party at my ex-best friend's mom's house like we did every year for many years before my ex-friend left her family and me. It's depressing for me to be on that street especially since my ex-best friend's mom passed away last Tuesday the 27th.

I don't really love Halloween like I used to.

I'm with you on the coffee & bacon, occasionally, and the income and wishing being a woman was a little easier.
I'd love to read what you have to say about the Golden Hour.
That's a shame about #1 son getting called into work. And I can't tell you in words how sad it makes me feel for you that this time of year was once so special, and that now it's just a sad memory. I think maybe it might help if you start building some new memories around this time of year. Maybe start a new Halloween tradition of your own with your family. Hugs & more hugs. xo d

We moved from the sticks to a neighborhood. After years of not getting any trick-or-treaters, we now get 10 go-zillion.

I love the smell of bacon. Makes me hungry. But the funny thing is I don't care to eat it.

I also love the smell of coffee, but I don't drink it.

Good idea to save the Kenny.

I LOVE BACON, and if I could eat it with every meal I so would!~

The bacon thing, I think of the grease, how I wouldn't let it go down the drain, but I might swallow it? Scary!

I like the illustrations in the book you found, (at least the page previews I saw) they're very pretty.

It's a good thing your son didn't go out dressed like Kenny with all the wild javelinas, bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions. It might just have been tempting fate a bit too much. ;)

I've never seen a trick or treater IRL in my entire life. Is that a blessing or a curse?

I'm sorry Halloween wasn't quite as fun for you. But it makes sense. It is something special to the children; you deserved to be able to stay home with you thoughts.

What a bummer that we don't get to see the Kenny costume!

I love turkey bacon. It cooks up perfect and crispy, with no fat whatsoever. Mmmmmmm...

I'm sorry this is not a happy time of year for you but I'm hugging you from afar and hoping that makes it a little better.

Diane, Thank you, hugs and love!

Matty, There's nothing like the smell of coffee and bacon IMO!!

Sassy, I'd go on a bacon diet but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't lose any weight. Thanks and hugs!!

Secretia, I know, right? It's not good enough for the drain. Thanks and hugs!! P.S. I'm all caught up with you for now, since Hubby took the kids trick-or-treating!

Peeking Rabbit, #1 Son wouldn't have gone trick-or-treating around our house. Thanks, let's chat soon!

Drahdrah, I wish I was in the Carribean. That would be awesome. I'm glad that you are with your hubby! Hugs!!

Joanna, They did score lots of candy. I got some today for 1/2 off! Thanks and hugs!!

Wendy, My life is complicated and I will get past this. I just burned my bridge with the corporate office of the place I worked but I feel fine about it. I'm either going to find a way to be self employed or I'll file bankruptcy. Either way I don't really care right now. Tomorrow, I might. but I highly doubt it.
Thanks and hugs!!

The Peach Tart,. This is NOT a happy time of year for me and I'm burning bridges. It feels good! Thanks and hugs!!

As a treat on a hot day you should try making some cold brewed coffee. Just take the ground coffee, tie it in a filter, and let it soak in water in the fridge for 24 hours. It is delicious and there is no bitterness because it was cold brewed.

Ewwww bacon flavored coffee? Bacon flavoured coffee????????? err sorry that was my imagination. Bacon flavored ice cream. Where's the vomiting emoticon. Reminds me of the kangaroo and emu flavored potato chips.
